Website review vs. website edits

(Opinion vs. execution)

Website reviews

A review video is how I start 99% percent of projects, even for clients who may eventually want me to edit their website.

Why? Before changes are made, it's important you have a chance to understand 1) the user experience I'm having with your website, in real time, and 2) the rationale behind each suggested change.

The video-first method also ensures that you can make website updates in the future without my help, should you ever need to.

It's your website, and I want you to feel that you have control over how it looks and functions.

Once the video review is complete and you have had a chance to watch it, you may request that I edit your website directly.

I am most comfortable working with simpler drag-and-drop or no-code website editors, such as Squarespace, Wix, or Hostinger, since I am not a web designer. I also have experience with WordPress, on the content side, due to my background as a writer.

If you'd like me to try my hand at another website builder, I am more than happy to make the attempt, but I will likely need a longer amount of time to learn the platform.

If for some reason I am unable to complete your project due to skill or time constraints, I will let you know as soon as possible and will not charge you for the edit service.

Website edits

I offer three video review options: 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or custom length. Most websites will fall into the first two buckets.

The reason I ask for your current URL — and for a 15-minute consultation call — is to determine how long your video should be to give you the maximum bang for your buck.

Websites of 3 pages or fewer will likely only need a 30-minute review (unless they are very content-heavy), whereas websites of 4-8 pages may require the full hour. These are deep-dive reviews informed by my marketing background.

Custom-length videos are most appropriate for larger websites. They also work in instances where you need help with branding and storytelling or are considering a site redesign because 1) you're unhappy with your current website overall or 2) you aren't seeing the results you'd like to have.

Whichever video length you choose, I will give you thoughtful insight into how visitors are experiencing your brand online.

Website edits can be as minor or as substantial as you'd like them to be. Services include SEO, basic formatting, deletion or archiving of pages, and creation of new pages.

Custom quotes are necessary for all website edits, since the time it takes will depend on what tasks you'd like me to complete. How your website is currently set up will also affect project time.

I will provide a second consultation to kick off your website edit project, free of charge. This call ensures that 1) you have an opportunity to share your thoughts following the review video and 2) we can align on the vision for your website before work begins.
